Executive Director of the Secure ID Coalition Recognized


On Wednesday, the Smart Card Alliance announced the winners of the prestigious “Outstanding Smart Card Achievement” Awards (“OSCA”).  At the event, Kelli Emerick, Executive Director of the Secure ID Coalition, was awarded the OSCA for Outstanding Individual Leadership Award in recognition of her dedication to improving privacy and security for Americans.

The Outstanding Individual Leadership Award, the only OSCA award given to an individual, is presented to an individual who stands out for his or her individual contributions to the smart card industry based on a professional record of leadership, vision, support and commitment to the secure technology.  In presenting Ms. Emerick with the award, the Smart Card Alliance cited Ms. Emerick’s successful efforts to inform government officials about the benefits of Smart Card technology as Executive Director of the Secure ID Coalition.  The Secure ID Coalition has been an active player in working to improve security for payment cards, worker identification, and greater privacy for electronic medical records.

In addition to Ms. Emerick, other recipients of OSCAs included, Bank of America, for SafePass, its two factor authentication program for online banking, ViVOtech for its Citi Tap and Pay NFC Mobile pilot, and Gemalto for its Smart Guardian (SG) FIPS.  To read more about the OSCA Awards, please click here. The initiative taken for the concern is very serious and need an attention of every one. This is the concern which exists in the society and needs to be eliminated from the society as soon as possible.

    At the March 30, 2011 Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and other Agencies held a hearing on the FY 2012 Health and Human Services (HHS) Budget, Senator Kirk (R- IL) questioned HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius about the outdated Medicare Card issued to America’s seniors.  In a system that is riddled with fraud, waste and abuse, Sen.
